San Jose, Calif. – July 29, 2007… 15-year old Rookie Esteban Gutierrez (Autotecnica), of Monterrey, Mexico, won Round 10 of the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship today at the San Jose Grand Prix from his record-setting seventh pole of the season. Leading from standing-start to checkered flag, Gutierrez finished 4.685 seconds ahead of Daniel Morad (Eurointernational) in the 26-lap race. With his third win of the season Gutierrez consolidates his led in the Rookie point standings and moves to second in the Overall points. Morad, who set a new race lap record (1:02.497) on his way to adding a third podium finish to his five season victories, retains the lead in the Overall standings. Rookie Junior driver Ricardo Favoretto (HBR Motorsport Team USA) finished third to cap the best weekend of his career.

Ottawa driver delivers a great qualifying effort and a top five in round 10.
SAN JOSE, CALIFORINA Ottawa Formula BMW USA driver Philip Major had a solid weekend at the San Jose Grand Prix. He qualified fifth for round 9, and sixth for round 10 of the 2007 Formula BMW USA series.
“We’re off to a good start, “Major said after qualifying fifth for round 9, and sixth for round 10. “The front of the grid is very close and I know we can improve on our starting positions.”

Alexander Rossi Wins Round 9, Gutierrez Charges from 16th to 4th, Major gets crashed into at first turn.
San Jose, Calif. – July 28, 2007… Today, Californian Alexander Rossi (Team Apex Racing USA) demonstrated that not only does he know the way to San Jose, but, more importantly, he knows the way through San Jose. This afternoon, 15 year-old Rossi, from Nevada City, California, scored his first Formula BMW USA victory in Round 9 at the San Jose Grand Prix. Starting from the pole and leading every circuit of the 25-lap race contested through the streets of San Jose, he finished 1.370 seconds ahead of Maxime Pelletier (HBR Motorsport Team USA). Pelletier set the fastest race lap (1:03.221) on the way to his fourth podium finish of the season. Robert Thorne (Team Apex Racing USA) finished third, the first time the second-year Formula BMW driver has reached the podium.

Formula BMW USA - Philip Major ready for San Jose!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO Majorspeed.com driver Philip Major is back in action this weekend in rounds 9 and 10 of the Formula BMW USA series, which runs as part of the San Jose Grand Prix. There are just six rounds left this year in the 2007 Formula BMW USA series, and Major is confident heading into this weekend’s street race at San Jose. San Jose is the only street circuit on the schedule this year.
