Philip Major grabs top five in San Jose!

Ottawa driver delivers a great qualifying effort and a top five in round 10.

SAN JOSE, CALIFORINA Ottawa Formula BMW USA driver Philip Major had a solid weekend at the San Jose Grand Prix. He qualified fifth for round 9, and sixth for round 10 of the 2007 Formula BMW USA series.

“We’re off to a good start, “Major said after qualifying fifth for round 9, and sixth for round 10. “The front of the grid is very close and I know we can improve on our starting positions.”

Round nine was difficult for the majorspeed.com driver as he was hit from behind in the first corner on the first lap, which ended his race. In round 10, Major was once again hit from behind in turn one, but this time he was able to continue. He made his way forward to finish in a solid fifth place. The Team Autotecnica driver was happy, but not satisfied with his race weekend.

“I am happy about the fifth place today,” Major said. “But overall, I am not satisfied with our weekend. We had a great car, thanks to my Team Autotecnica, and we had a great starting spot for each race. I am sure that at Road America we will be able to show what we are capable of.”

Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2007 Formula BMW USA Championship will be held at Road America on August 8-12th
