Ottawa, Ontario - Returning Formula BMW USA series driver Philip Major has landed in one of the most coveted ‘seats’ in the Formula BMW USA series with the announcement that he has joined Team Autotecnica for the 2007 Formula BMW USA series.

“I am really happy to make this announcement today,” Major said. “Last year I learned so much being part of the Formula BMW series, and this year I am ready to make that step forward and chase the championship,” Major added.

Team Autotecnica is widely regarded as one of the best teams in Formula BMW USA, and Enrico Diano, Team Manager for Team Autotecnica was impressed with Major’s performance from his first test with the team. “I was really impressed with Philip’s speed from the first time out in our car, and his feedback about our car and setup to our engineer was fantastic,” Diano said. “We knew right then we wanted to work with him in 2007, and we are very excited about having Philip race for us this year.”

Major started his career in the Honda Michelin Series before moving to the Formula BMW USA Championship in 2006. This year he knows it is his year to put in a solid performance before moving up the motorsport ladder. “It is an important year for me, and all of us here at majorspeed.com. After a long winter, and testing with several teams, I am confident we have made the right choice in Autotecnica. The only real way to describe it, is that I feel at home with Autotecnica they are ‘my’ team, and I know that will go a long way to help produce the results we are looking for in 2007.”

Major will be back at work with his new team in the coming weeks as his hectic test schedule will commence, leading up to the first race on May 17-18 at Miller Motorsports Park, Utah.
